Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is a software program developed by Adobe Systems for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows, designed to assist professional photographers in post-production work.
Lightroom is being developed with feedback from the photography community, with multiple Beta releases occurring, each adding new features to the product. The initial release was a Macintosh-only Beta 1 on January 9, 2006. On July 18, 2006, Beta 3 added support for Microsoft Windows systems. On September 25, 2006, Beta 4 was released quickly followed by the current beta 4.1 which was released on October 19, 2006
Lightroom development began as early as 2002 and was formerly known as Shadowland[1]. An interesting aspect of its implementation is that about 40% of the application is written using the Lua scripting language.
