Aeropolis 2001

The Aeropolis 2001 is a proposed project for construction of a massive 500-story high-rise building over Tokyo Bay in Japan. If built, the mammoth structure would be approximately five times as high as the World Trade Center was in New York, or one third of the height of Mount Everest.

Designed by Obayashi Gumi Corporation, Aeropolis 2001 will be a two-kilometre high building, with 500 floors capacity which would accommodate over 300,000 inhabitants. It will have special elevators, which will move from top to bottom in only 15 minutes. Restaurants, offices, flats, cinemas, schools, hospitals, and post offices will all be just a few lift stops away.

It will also have green floors, where children and office workers can eat their lunch-break. If suddenly there is a fire, it will be put out by robots.

Aeropolis 2001 project costs over £2,000 million. Design manager Mr. Shuzimo said that as soon as they get the money for the project, they will start building it. It will be fully built by robots.
