[edit] refactoring RFC
I coulda warned you that Imacomp would use your attempt to make his ramblings legible as evidence of his opponents' malfeasance. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 17:16, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
If he keeps this up i'm posting to the ArbCom tomorrow. It's almost like he wants to be banned, there is really no excuse for his behavior. Seraphim 22:16, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] ArbCom
You can't go to ArbCom, without starting an RFC first. See WP:DR. I do tend to agree with you though. Ardenn 23:53, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Ref Imacomp sockery
I did not read it as criticism, I just felt it would be useful for the admins to know why I had not filed an RFCU. =) WegianWarrior 16:12, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jahbulon ready for new AFD
check out the latest on talk:Jahbulon... the article may be ready for a new AFD! Blueboar 03:26, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] User talk:Torinir/SOF UK Mediation
What do you think of my suggested compromise? It means having them in the UKSF article again, but with no suggestion they are anything but articles of potential interest. Yorkshire Phoenix (talk • contribs) 11:33, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Guess who's back?
I'm pretty sure we have Lightbringer active again on the Anti-Masonry article, using what looks to be a range of open proxies in Korea. I can't stay and keep an eye on it (and have three reverts allready), but decided to let the other regular editors know about it. I've reported the open proxires he used so far on Wikipedia:WikiProject on open proxies. Thank you, and enjoy the weekend. WegianWarrior 11:09, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- ALR, Thanks for the heads up on the 3RR. It's nice to have a reminder to keep cool sometimes. I put a notice on ANI and it got noticed. :) Chtirrell 18:10, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] AFD on Landmarks
You wrote: Are you going to raise it on Masonic Landmarks? seems ripe for it tbh, especially after the effort to laod the article then questioning it in talk.
- I agree... unfortunately I am not sure how to post it properly... are you familliar with the process? I would certainly support it. Blueboar 21:39, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] AASR
You ask: Just curious, are you a member? ALR 21:37, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Nope... I'm simply tired of people misquoting Pike to discredit the craft. More to the point, I DISPISE the Anti-masonic tactic of using "implied criticism" when facts are shakey. Blueboar 21:50, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject on Adminship
While I had thought the role of admins in the project was reasonably well understood, you raise a valid point. Any thoughts you might have on the matter would be most welcome at the WikiProject. The Uninvited Co., Inc. 19:04, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to the Military history WikiProject!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated quite regularly. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines outline some things to include.
- Interested in working on a more complete article? The military history peer review and collaboration departments would welcome your help!
- Interested in a particular area of military history? We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, or periods.
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Wikipedia.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 12:04, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Intelligence
You write about intelligence derived from military instituitions?
You can add the German "Org" (established under the American CSI in occupied Germany, military US intelligence) and BND along. They derived from the Wehrmacht Intelligence group "Fremde Heere Ost" under the Command of Reinhard Gehlen. Sure, I can contribute a bit. Wandalstouring 10:01, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] new AfD on Jahbulon
FYI - I have filed a new AfD on Jahbulon. With most of the supporting material for the speculative stuff deleted due to WP:RS issues, I think it is ready for deletion. Blueboar 19:10, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Data Representation
I'm afraid that I don't know quite what data representation is. After googling it seems to be a bit to do with "hard computing" which I do not work in. I hope that answers your question. JASpencer 17:46, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
- I honestly don't know what data representation is. Sorry I wasn't helpful on the subject. JASpencer 19:41, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
-
- Thank you very much for the explanation, and I'm sorry if I upset you with my ignorance. In short I don't work in that field or any like it. I do spend a large part of my working life presenting unwelcome news to computer programmers - thus I do need to be exact about what I know and more importantly, what I don't know. That discipline may be reflected here. JASpencer 20:00, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Military class ring question
Sorry I can't help you, as most of the US Academies and Military Colleges (which have stones in the rings, that is) allow Cadets/Midshipmen to choose the color of the stone, personally. I know Norwich people who had hematite for their stones, and some who had sapphire. Norwich colors are maroon and gold, and I know a number of Norwich people who chose to mimic this on their rings. but there was no regulation on it, so far as my research shows.--Vidkun 15:27, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Paris Commune
From looking at the removed section and the wording, it might be copyvio from the book (although an 1894 dating puts it in the public domain, I think). In either case, it's likely a direct lift, and it's only one source. I can see why it was removed, but it probably should have been explained, and it probably could have been rewritten. It might also be too tangential, who knows? MSJapan 16:04, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Royal Marines MedCab Case
Hi, regarding the Royal Marines MedCab case, I am going to be the mediator. In this context, I am going to ask the case originator Tashtastic to indicate on the case page what he would like to achieve from the mediation. Accordingly, could I also request that you to explain what you would like to achieve from the mediation, or if you are satisfied with the current version of the article, just to respond to his comments. Thanks, Addhoc 12:13, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your sub pages
ALR, would you mind if I removed the Freemasonry category links on your sub-pages? While they are interesting (and have great potential for good articles), I feel that user pages should not be given category links, only articles should. Thought I would ask first though. Blueboar 17:08, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- No problem with that, all three are already out in the wild so I'm just keeping a reference copy of the initial state.ALR 17:31, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Masons
I tried to input little information on aftermath, it was reversed, on popes, so, how can we fix this so it stays there?are you an administrator? Did you read the link, i can say any link is not reliable.
[edit] Special Forces
nothing about the links to isayeret.com or specialoperations.com violates the terms of WP:EL. Both sites are widely known and recognized as leading informational sites in the special operations community. Why on earth would you revert them? ⇒ SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 00:17, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Furthermore, both sites are widely linked on wikipedia: [1][2][3][4][5] [6] for Isayeret, [7][8][9][10][11] [12] [13]linked twice here, [14] [15]. In neither case did I come anywhere near listing all the pages that link to an isayeret.com database entry, or a specialoperations.com entry. ⇒ SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 00:27, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your user page
I was interested to read about your masonic interests - I've never seen anyone openly put details about craft lodges and side-orders on their Wiki user page, for that you must be very proud. Definitely an area of shared interest - I should really start an article about Rose Croix. S&F Escaper7 17:42, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi there - I saw your comments about my involvement with RC. I've decided to reply "off the article" page because it's has got a bit personal about me, and I don't want to discuss my interest in freemasonry too much. Yes I have been perfected into AAR - that was in April, my next mtg is in Nov, that was why my quest for information on Wiki began. As well as editing Wikipedia, I read quite a lot from it too, although I've learned to use a healthy pinch of salt. I can't see me becoming an active contributor to the masonry pages as a result of what I've read on Scottish Rite, York Rite and Freemasonry. Meantime, my JW's office is keeping me busy enough. Regards anyway. Escaper7 10:24, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] La Merika
Thanks for your support. What these people don't seem to understand is that I have no problem with having an article about this rot... as long as it contains citations as to who says what. All they see is someone trying to delete a "cool" article. Feel free to add comments at: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/La Merika Blueboar 18:32, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
Unsure how this works and if you'll see this...Apologies. The link was a useful one and comletely relevant. I didn't realise it was unacceptable to add useful links- there are other links to external sites after all.
[edit] Quick decision?
This was a rather fast enforcement of WP:CITE...
Of course I do realise that you actually changed your mind and removed the ridiculous material that was there. Let's try and find some published information about John Scarlett's future for the article. Nice work otherwise :) --anskas 16:32, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Learn to Spell
The changes you made to my article on the Battle of Top Malo House arn't bad so i'll let that go, but the changes you made to my Raid on Pebble Island article are crap. By the way you spell the word "immediately" not immediatly. See, you learn something new everyday!!

Yes, i have one, back in uniform, and teaching. College seems so different to me 15 years later.--Vidkun 20:26, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] In reference to attempts to find an underlying definition for Blue-water navy
You are acting like a vandal and this is pure vandalism. Stop it. If you have any issue related to the article it needed to be debated amoung all others rather than you single handely reverting a whole article. Chanakyathegreat 14:42, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] We thank you for your support
Thanks for the support on WP:RS re wikis. I tried being ballanced and fair, but it is obvious that JohnsAr is set in his ideas and does not want to take No for an answer. Oh well. The next task will be to get them to shut up about it (or at least to take the argument elsewhere). :>) Me... I would never turn to a wiki for accurate info. Think about some of the crap that has been placed on the various Freemasonry pages in order to meet NPOV and you will understand why. "The encyclopedia anyone can edit" unfortunately means exactly what it says. :>) (After all, they let ME edit!) Blueboar 18:38, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RFC:The Tunnel Rats
Hey brother, just wondering if I could get an opinion from you in relation to an article a close friend of mine is attempting to get undeleted. The article in question is of an urban exploration group numbering 2,000+ members. It's been front page news numerous times and had a lot of media coverage as advocates of exploring what mankind has forgotten and is also known for having uncovered numerous WWII fortifications that were lost and / or buried. It's based in Australia and has chapters in Sydney and Melbourne.
User:Vegaswikian listed it for speedy deletion as a non-notable group. The problem is to appeal for undeletion you need at least three votes in support, yet unfortunately no wikipedians seem to bother reviewing such sections of material. Thus, it's terribly easy to speedy delete anything, whether it meets the criteria or not; and almost impossible to have material undeleted.
Discussion with the random deleter appears here and the appeal for reinstate ment is located here. Your input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance if you get a chance to take a look at this. :) Jachin 22:37, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Reference to your comment on my page:
Fact tagging Kindly cease removing fact tags without actually providing support to the associated statement. Note I'm also going to remove the padding you've added to the SAS intro, it can go in later in the article, the intro is not the place.ALR 18:06, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Fact tagging Did you put it in later in the article, or did you just remove it. It doesn't need a fact tag. Any book on special forces, or on the SAS specifically, will say the same.
