Wikipedia is exactly my kind of community; where else can you build a chain linking the Mappa Mundi to Ringworld to meme to Engrish to IPA and end up having a discussion with linguists about cascading style sheets? I'm 36 years old, male, Irish, interested in engineering, beer, green politics, food, sex, art, astronomy, philosophy, history, cinema and languages. In short, I am a marketing manager's nightmare, the antithesis of Mondeo Man (By the way, I didn't access the IPA article thinking that it referred to India Pale Ale). Looking at just a tiny handful of the excellent articles available, I reckon I'm not really author material - my knowledge is too wide and shallow ever to achieve expertise. I see myself as more of a sub-editor: you write it, I'll clean it up, or: you carve, I'll polish. Hey, I even have an AO Level in Use of English. So here I am, standing on the street corner: wanna sub-edit, luv? --die Baumfabrik 21:59, 24 January 2006 (UTC) |
