Be Not Nobody (2002) |
Harmonium (2004) |
Be Not Nobody is the debut album by American singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton, released in 2002 (see 2002 in music).
"A Thousand Miles" was the first single from the album and became Carlton's breakthrough hit. A worldwide top ten hit, it was arguably one of the biggest singles of 2002. "Ordinary Day" was the second single from the album, and "Pretty Baby" was the third. "Pretty Baby" was also nominated for a 2003 Teen Choice Award for "Choice Love Song".[1] Be Not Nobody was certified gold by the RIAA in June 2002, and platinum the following October.[2] As of late 2004 the album had sold 1.38 million copies in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan,[3] and 2.3 million worldwide.[4] Billboard magazine placed Carlton at number twenty-one on its year-end "Top Pop Artists" list for 2002.[5]
The cover art for the album is based on a lithograph of the actress Sarah Bernhardt by the Czech artist Alfons Mucha.
