Bevois Valley
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bevois Valley is an inner city area of Southampton, England, to the south of Portswood, within walking distance of the city centre. It is the line of the original valley of the River Itchen, and as such the land is primarily clays and shingles.
It is populated by a mix of students and permanent residents. It has recently been the recipient of EU money for improvement.
The local school is Bevois Town Primary School, and the local church is Bevois Town Church. The local train station is St Denys railway station.
The area apparently gains it's name from a folk lore hero called Bevis of Hampton and his giant companion Ascupart, a large billboard is prominently displayed in the area opposite The Hobbit public house on Bevois Valley Road.
