- In Canada, roads and highways fall under the authority of provincial governments (as does health care and education for example); hence the designation as provincial highways. --Qyd 16:12, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- True: But even in the US, each state has jurisdiction over the sections of interstates inside their borders. But nobody would refer to the Washington state section of I-5 as "Washington State Highway 5." I can see the Ontario and Quebec sections as being provincial highways, as they post provincial hwy. sheilds along the TCH alongside--inconsistently placed, and numberless--TCH signs, and use their own numbers within their borders, but in western Canada, that's not the case, as there is an interprovincial numbering/signage system in place.
