Diocese of Auckland

The Diocese of Auckland is one of seven dioceses of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia. The Diocese covers the area stretching from North Cape down to the Waikato River, across the Hauraki Plains and including the Coromandel Peninsula.
The diocese was established in 1841, and originally covered the entire country. In 1854 it was limited to the Auckland region only.
The current bishop is John Paterson, who was appointed in 1995, and who was Presiding Bishop of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia from 1998 to 2004. The current Assistant Bishop is Richard Randerson, appointed 2002, who is also Dean of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Auckland, and Vicar-General.
The theological college is the College of St John the Evangelist.
