Edward Hart (judge)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Edward Hart (1698?-1754?), born on Long Island, was the father of John Hart. He was a justice of the peace, and trained his son in that profession, though he was reluctant to. He is said to have been called a coward because he was a strong Tory at the time of the colonial period. He commanded a militia nicknamed "The Jersey Blues" during the French and Indian War. Later, he bought 150 acres of land in New Jersey. He had two sons, John and Daniel. His wife's name is unknown. He left his land to John, the oldest. He took up the occupation of a farmer and became very prosperous.
