[edit] Karmafist
Hello, my name is Karmafist, my real name is Andrew Sylvia. I am 24 and currently residing in Merrimack, New Hampshire, United States.
I graduated from Keene State College in late 2004, and since then i've changed the course of my life to run for public office in the hopes of helping people and giving them hope in this age of corrupt and distant politicans. Since then, i've run for two offices in the real world, and if things go well in my career, I hope to run this April in town elections and this November in state elections, before that, i've been a political activist since early 2003.
I've learned alot from those experiences, but I know I still have alot to learn in order to effectively help those in need of help in the real world, but I think i've come a bit farther here on Wikipedia.
Along with being elected to the Esperanzian Advisory Committee here on Wikipedia, (so far, i've been in attendance at every Advisory Meeting),i've run for arbcom, created 54 articles, amassed over 11,000 edits, uploaded around 100 images, welcomed over 2,200 people and counting, and attempted to reform WP:NPA, as can be seen here in a format similiar to that of Radiant's brilliant poll.
Unfortunately, Radiant may not see the fruits of his efforts. He, along with myself, was involved in trying to assist a clueless, 16 year old newbie with less than 100 edits who happened to wander into a volatile mob. I was desysopped by Jimbo for following the policies of WP:AGF and WP:BITE, and Radiant, among many others involved in this, have left the project because of this incident.
During the past few months, we've had multiple incidents like these (Wikipedians for Decency, Editcountis, The Ad Scandal, Liebenthaler, the Userbox Revolt, etc.), and unless something is done, there will be many more and many more people either leaving us or becoming jaded and counterconstructive either for a time or potentially forever (along with Radiant, i've seen this happen firsthand to Redwolf24, Ardenn, SPUI, Cool Cat, Freestylefrappe, Leonig Mig, Essjay, just to name a few.)
Regardless of what happens here, I will continue to believe and strive for a few certain things
- An environment on Wikipedia where all users can contribute in a civil and friendly atmosphere, particularly in terms of fostering an environment where all users realize that the project is more important than any and all of us, and not following policy and procedure only hurts it, regardless of who you are or what your intentions are.
- An end to hostility on Wikipedia, either through assisting those who act incivility to reform their behavior or ignoring those who do not wish to do so, especially those who act with the pretense of authority (the only person who will make me leave Wikipedia is me, regardless of whatever happens.)
- An environment where people can learn, grow, and have always have hope for a peaceful resolution to any dispute or conflict.
Among others.
Thank you for your time, and I'd appreciate your vote in this election.
