Fallen One is a fictional character in the Marvel Comics Universe. He was a Herald of Galactus whose tenure predates that of the Silver Surfer — long thought to have been the first herald. He now serves as the "Herald" of Thanos.

[edit] Character history
The Fallen One's original state is unknown. Eons ago, Galactus empowered the Fallen One in his first attempt at creating a Herald. Unlike the other later Heralds, the Fallen One was empowered by dark energy instead of the Power Cosmic. Post-empowerment, he appears to be of a humanoid race and of similar proportions to the Silver Surfer in stature, with skin colored black or darkest blue, and a mane of hair to match.
Eventually Galactus became tired of the Fallen One's insanity and cruelty and imprisoned him. The Fallen One eventually escaped this prison and immediately attacked Galactus, who defeated his ex-herald and bound him again. Due to the endless source of energy provided him by Galactus, the Fallen One was doomed to eventually escape his prison and in anger, seek revenge again. After countless defeats, the Fallen One was defeated by Star-Lord Peter Quill at a great cost of life. He was then imprisoned in the Kyln, a super prison at the edge of the Marvel universe, a place known as The Crunch.
When Thanos warred with the Maker at the Kyln, the destruction freed the Fallen One, who set out again to attack Galactus. Thanos then defeated the Fallen One, hit him with somesort of a cosmic lobotomy and made him his Herald.
In Annihilation: Silver Surfer #3, the Fallen One was defeated and captured by Tenebrous and Aegis. In Annihilation: Silver Surfer #4, Thanos arrived to reclaim his errant Herald and was presented with the "withered husk" of the Fallen One by Tenebrous and Aegis.
[edit] Powers and abilities
The Fallen One is empowered with the dark energy, similar to how Galactus's other heralds have received the Power Cosmic. When Galactus dismissed other Heralds, he has removed the Power Cosmic from them. As the Fallen One has retained his empowerment of dark energy despite countless failed attempts on Galactus's life, it's highly likely that Galactus is unable, or do not care to disconnect the Fallen One from his power supply.
Most dangerous of all is the Fallen One's psychotic nature and probable lack of morals. For this he was banished from Galactus' side and earned his current title/name.
