Felhound
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Felhounds are Demon Hounds that appear in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. These demonic canines are controlled by the Pit Lords to sniff out sources of magic and various magical energies. Felhounds feed upon magic itself and are fond of draining the energies of hapless wizards, sorcerers, mages, shamans and other beings of magic.
Felhounds are able to attack land units only and love nothing more than tearing their enemies to shreds with their mighty claws and razor-sharp teeth. Felhounds also fire mana bolts that absorb mana from magical beings and also do damage to those beings.
Felhounds reside in the realm of the Twisting Nether and have been responsible for the destruction of many mortal worlds. In the final mission of the Undead Campaign, the Burning Legion send Felhounds and Infernals to aid Arthas (the Death Knight) and Kel'Thuzad in summoning the Eredar Demon Lord Archimonde.
In the final mission of the Orc Campaign, Felhounds and Doom Guards, along with the Demon-tainted Warsong Clan, are found guarding Grom Hellscream against Thrall and his untainted Orcs.
[edit] Remnants of the Burning Legion
Upon the defeat of the Burning Legion in Azeroth, their forces have become whithered and scarce. Different strains of Felhounds were evident in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. These included the Fel Ravagers, Fel Stalkers, and Fel Beasts. They were encountered by Prince Kael'Thas at Dalaran and were slain. They were also encountered multiple times on Draenor, including Magtheridon's Black Citadel, by Illidan's Forces.
In World of Warcraft, Felhunters (also known as Fel Beasts) are featured as pets to warlocks.
