FreeRails

Freerails is designed as an object oriented client server application. It is written in Java and will run on any standard JVM enabled machine or browser. Source and binaries are available at SourceForge [1] as is a developer's mailing list and archives.
This railroad company building and management game was inspired by the commercial hit Railroad Tycoon. It has been under development for several years. While not yet finished, the modular Java version is quite playable now on any Java enabled machine. Experienced players will notice some features missing or disabled but the basic functionality critical to game play is available. It is multi-player with a server client capability over the internet allowing multiple people to play a game together. Games states may be saved and reactivated later. It is not clear to this editor whether multiple players can yet reattach to a game after having left it or attempting to restart a weekly game among friends.
