G4 (band)

G4 are a vocal troupe made famous by The X-Factor television programme. Their members are Jonathan Ansell, Matthew Stiff, Mike Christie and Ben Thapa. Their self-titled debut album reached Number One for Mother's Day weekend 2005.
Their name, G4, comes from the fact that they were all students at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and stands for Guildhall 4. This was originally G-Force, but over time changed to G4. Coincidentally, the group opened a rollercoaster named G-Force during 2005 at Drayton Manor Theme Park.
The group are very versatile and have successfully performed everything from contemporary hits such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Yellow, Beautiful, Circle of Life and You're the Voice, to classical pieces like Nessun Dorma, La Donna E Mobile (which they had their audience sing along to during the 2006 tour) and Pearl Fishers' Duet, and even the swing classic Fever.
G4's Third album is due for release on 27th November. The album is titled Act Three and includes tracks such as Somebody to Love, O Sole Mio, I Don't Like Mondays, Volare and Silent Night. It also includes No Matter What with Stephen Gately.
In 2006, G4 made a special appearance at the American 4th of July party at Winfield House, home of the US Ambassador to the UK, and sang The Star-Spangled Banner.
G4 have also designed a pillow-case for ByteNight a charity event organised to raise funds for the NCH and youth homelessness, the pillow-case was up for bids and can be seen at http://www.bytenight.org.uk/sweetdreams.php
