Grand River Bridge

The Grand River bridge (built 1927) is the only nine span bridge of its kind in Canada. It is located in Caledonia, Ontario on Argyle Street. The bridge is considered the first reinforced concrete bridge ever built. It will soon be replaced by a new bridge due to structural damage and age.

The original six span wooden bridge collapsed due to ice. A second bridge was built in 1875, but collapsed when a heavy truck was crossing in 1925. The present bridge was built in 1927.
