Greater Buenos Aires

Greater Buenos Aires (Spanish: Gran Buenos Aires) is the metropolitan area of the city of Buenos Aires, which consists of the Federal Capital and the following 24 partidos (administrative subdivisions) of the Province of Buenos Aires:
- Almirante Brown (cities of Adrogué, Burzaco and Longchamps)
- Avellaneda (cities of Avellaneda, Villa Domínico and Sarandí)
- Berazategui (cities of Berazategui, Hudson and Ranelagh)
- Esteban Echeverría (city of Monte Grande)
- Ezeiza (cities of Ezeiza and Tristán Suárez)
- Florencio Varela (city of Florencio Varela)
- General San Martín (cities of San Martín, Ballester and J.L.Suárez)
- Hurlingham (cities of Hurlingham and Villa Tessei)
- Ituzaingó (city of Ituzaingó)
- José C. Paz (city of José C. Paz)
- La Matanza (cities of San Justo, Ramos Mejía, Laferrère and Rafael Castillo)
- Lanús (cities of Lanús, Valentín Alsina and Remedios de Escalada)
- Lomas de Zamora (cities of Lomas de Zamora, Banfield and Temperley)
- Malvinas Argentinas (cities of Los Polvorines, Villa de Mayo and Tortuguitas)
- Merlo (cities of Merlo, San Antonio de Padua, Parque San Martín, Libertad, Pontevedra and Mariano Acosta)
- Moreno (cities of Moreno, La Reja and Paso del Rey)
- Morón (cities of Morón, Castelar and Haedo)
- Quilmes (cities of Quilmes, Bernal and San Francisco Solano)
- San Fernando (cities of San Fernando and Victoria)
- San Isidro (cities of San Isidro, Martínez, Boulogne and Beccar)
- San Miguel (cities of San Miguel and Bella Vista)
- Tigre (cities of Tigre, Don Torcuato, Talar de Pacheco and Benavídez)
- Tres de Febrero (cities of Caseros, Ciudadela, El Palomar, Santos Lugares and Villa Bosch)
- Vicente López (cities of Olivos, Vicente López, Munro and Florida)
Urban sprawl, especially in the years 1940 to 1960, created a vast conurbation which had 9,270,661 inhabitants in 2001 in the above-mentioned partidos and a total of 12,046,799 including the city of Buenos Aires proper.
