From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Greg Weisman (born September 28, 1963 in Los Angeles, California) is an American animation writer and producer most famous as the creator of the animated television series Gargoyles. Weisman is a former English composition and writing teacher and recived degrees at Stanford University and USC.
Of late, Weisman is notable for the question and answer forum [1] he participates in with Gargoyles fans online, often revealing his intended plans for the show. He announced on the forum a deal with Disney to continue the Gargoyles storyline as a comic book produced by Slave Labor Graphics beginning in 2006. The first issue of the bi-monthly book sold out its initial print run. (see Gargoyles (comics))
Weisman is not new to writing comics, having spent some time at DC as an editor and co-writing Captain Atom with Cary Bates. Bates later wrote several episodes of Gargoyles. A parody of Gargoyles later appeared in a Weisman-penned story in JLA Showcase #1. Weisman has also written episodes of the animated series Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Max Steel, Roughnecks: the Starship Trooper Chronicles, Kim Possible, The Batman, Men in Black: The Series, Ben Ten and others. He's also a voice director and was once a development executive at Disney. Weisman recently produced and story edited the second season of W.I.T.C.H., which is based on the comic book of the same name.
