Hello Hammersfan, welcome to Wikipedia.

You might find these links helpful: How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Naming conventions, Manual of Style. You should read our policies at some point too.

If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the Wikipedia:Help desk or (if you want a broader audience) the village pump, or ask me on my talk page. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

  • You can introduce yourself on the new users page.
  • You can find lots more information, including open tasks and daily tips, at the community portal.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp as well.

[edit] NPA

Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on the contributor; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks may lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you.

A number of your comments on the talk page for [[Template:British_TOCs]] are in clear violation of NPA -- [1][2][3] and [4]. I realize that this is a contentious issue, but resorting to blatan ad hominem attacks helps nothing. •Jim62sch• 10:05, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Brigade of the Guards

When an article has been placed on the copyvio page, you mustn't touch it. Follow the instructions in the boilerplate text, and create a new stub (or full article) ready for when the process is followed through. I've reverted your edits; you need to retrieve your new article using the page History, and recreate it as instructed. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 21:41, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I'm surprised that I didn't notice that it was a copyvio — i did a bit of tidying, and it didn't occur to me. Good luck with it. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 21:50, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] about the olympics template

I have noticed that you have added the Stadium column in the Olympics template. Do you think we actaully would need the stadium. Although it is a useful piece of information, many events are performed in various stadiums, and it's not really that significant. I don't know. Just my opinion WB 06:31, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC)

I added the stadium to the template because I've added links to the various stadia in all of the Summer Olympics pages - some of these have the Olympics Template, while others have a constructed table. In the interests of completeness, I thought it best to amend the template, should it then be decided to add it to all of the Olympics pages. Plus, I think it's useful to see that not every city has an Olympic Stadium called the 'Olympic Stadium'. Hammersfan 15.45, 2 June 2005
That's fine. I'll try to work on it myself too. WB 22:51, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Royal Netherlands Army

Hello Hammersfan. I reverted your contributions to the Royal Netherlands Army article since your information is outdated. The 1(NL)Division "7 december" doesn't exist anymore, the division was replaced by the "Operationeel Commando" (OPCO), which is soon to be replaced (5 september) by the "Commando Landstrijdkrachten" (CLSK). Therefore, there is also no longer a "1(GE/NL)Corps", the corps-headquarters is still there but the task has been chanched: it can be deployed as a NATO High Readiness Forces Headquarters (HRF-HQ). [edit] British Army

As you're a really prolific contributor on things related to the British Army, I'd like your imput as to whether you'd think a Wikipedia:Wikiproject British Army should be created? There are similar projects at Wikipedia:Wikiproject Polish Army and Wikipedia:WikiProject Hellenic Army.

There is so much on Wikipedia about the British Army, yet still so much to write. So a central place to organise everything would probably be a good thing.

Take care, dude SoLando 00:48, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

I've just created a basic WikiProject (I kinda blatantly copied some parts of WikiProject Polish Army :-D). I know this may sound kinda vague, but any help you offer will be really welcome.

[edit] Image:DWR.jpg

You have uploaded an image which you purport to be the Cap Badge of the Duke of Wellington's Regiment. This is not the Cap Badge of the Duke of Wellington's Regiment. It is the Regimental Association Blazer badge. You have made the image up from two seperate images from our Regimental website. It is also a copyright infringement of a design I did for the Regiment which has been illiegally copied and altered. It is only permitted to be used on the regimental website. Please arrange to have the image deleted immediately. Richard Harvey 10:10, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image:DWR.jpg

Hi Hammersfan, may I delete this image? I noticed that you've replaced it with Image:DWR1.jpg so the image isn't needed anymore.

I'm asking after a request from User:Richard Harvey to delete (at least one version of) the image based on copyright concerns.

As an administrator I can delete orphans at the uploaders request. So with your OK I can delete this image, otherwise it has to be listed for deletion as an unused orphan or copyright violation (fair use isn't possible for an orphan).

thanks in advance, --Duk 16:11, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply and permission- it's taken care of --Duk 15:55, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image:DWR1.jpg

Hi Hammersfan,

There are new criteria for speedy deletion of images, see Wp:csd#Images.2FMedia; images must have both copyright information and source information, or face deletion after a seven day listing period on either Category:Images_with_unknown_source or Category:Images_with_unknown_copyright_status.

I've added the {{no source}} tag to this image until the source is identified. If the specific source is not identified within seven days then the image will be deleted.

--Duk 19:58, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

P.S. if the source _is_ identified then the image will still have to run its course on WP:CP. --Duk 20:22, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
I have put the source of the image above onto the image's page - I also object to people insinuating and making allegations without bothering to check their facts. Hammersfan 12:05, 22 September 2005
Thank's for the information, I've removed the {{no source}} tag from the image page and added a note to the listing on WP:CP regarding the source.
Also, prior to recieving your note, I asked both User:ImageEditor and User:Richard Harvey about the source noted in the imagevio tag, which didn't seem to be right, and doesn't match the source you have since added.
The best way to avoid mistaken insinuations and allegations is to promptly add source and copyright information to image uploads. --Duk 12:27, 22 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] RAN template

Please stop re-adding the flag to the template it is under copyright and is not allowed to be there. You have already reverted the edit three times if you do so again you will in danger of being blocked from editing on wikipedia. --Martyman-(talk) 13:43, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

It suits me to enforce it here, because I am personally watching here. It might be a shock to you but I am not omnipotent, I do try to remove copyrighted and bad fair-use images wherever I find them on wikipedia. If you really only want to use this template on the one article why don't you just include the wikimarkup in the article itself. It probably still wouldn't get passed a close screening like FAC but it wouldn't be explicitly breaking a wikipedia policy. --Martyman-(talk) 13:55, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Also it is not just the issue of military flags in templates, it is military flags that are still definitely under copyright in templates. --Martyman-(talk) 13:56, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Australia-Air-Ensign.svg

Regarding the FOTW tag: I based the image only on the text at FOTW, some of which was quoted from another source anyway--the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette. The whole point of me drawing the stars from scratch in the first place was to avoid FOTW copyright restriction (hence my PD release).

I removed the incorrect information, and if attribution info is required I ask that you attribute it to me, Commons:User:-xfi- (Union, PD) and User:DiamondVertex (roundel, PD).

If I sound angry at you in this comment... I'm not :).

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Strathconasmountedtroop.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Strathconasmountedtroop.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 21:35, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] DWR Colonel in Chief

I've reverted your edit to the infobox, as it totally removed the information of the 8th DoW from the list. There is no need to change the infobox wording 'ceremonial chief' as the infobox template automatically puts the wording Colonel in Chief on the artical page. Please note the infobox also has to cater for military units other than regiments. 86.3.1.72 21:42, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RAN FAA Squadron names

Hi, I've started a list of all RAN FAA squadrons at: List of Australian Fleet Air Arm flying squadrons. Before I or anyone else starts entries on the squadrons, do you know if the RAN squadron titles should have 'No.' at the front of them like RAAF squadrons do? The RAN's website just calls them things like '805 Squadron' without a 'No.' so I assume that this is the prefered naming convention. Note that I've added 'RAN' to the end of the squadrons for consistancy with Wikipedia naming conventions (ie, to avoid confusion with any other countries squadrons with the same designation). --Nick Dowling 01:20, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:NorforceAO.JPG

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:NorforceAO.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stan 04:45, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:VSOE_train.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:VSOE_train.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] The Irish Question

You may be aware that there has recently been a dispute about whether the {{British TOCs}} template should include Northern Irish train operators. In order to gain consensus and move forward there is currently a discussion about whether the scope of the template should be Great Britain or the United Kingdom. You have previously commented on this tempate but have not yet made any remarks in the latest discussion. [edit] Portal:Military of Australia

Hey Hammersfan just letting you know that i just started a Military of Australia Portal thought you moight be interested. Also could you give me a hand on the intro to the portal not sure how to properly discribe the military of Australia. Hossens27 09:31, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

    • Hey, well the bulk of the portal is no problem its just the intro section its a little short compared to other portals. I am also not sure how to properly discribe the Military of Australia in the same section. Also can you think of any other possible sections(eg. Selected picture) that could be added. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hossens27 10:39, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] French station names

Since this is the English Wikipedia, the best title might possibly be "Calais-Fréthun railway station" ! But I will let you and Captain scarlet fight over it. However I would like to hear your thoughts at Talk:Gare de Le Havre about the best title for that station! -- RHaworth 16:55, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

The actual proper yet ridiculour name would be Gare de Calais-Fréthun railway station since Gare de is not only the appropriate but also the name used on the station front, as it is with all SNCF stations which have had a bit of sprucing up. You amase me a little bit more everyday RHaworth, for someone who originally asked for my help, your behaviour is most repungnant. Regards, Captain scarlet 13:29, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 9mm handguns and the ADF?

Hi Hammersfan. As a regular contributor to articles on the Australian Military, can you confirm whether or not private soldiers in the ADF (specifically in 3RAR) are normally issued with 9mm handguns? Thanks for any information you can provide. — JEREMY 09:05, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. If you think it is likely, the search is less urgent. :) Please let me know if you come up with evidence to the contrary. — JEREMY 09:20, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:2pennyreverse.JPG

Aloha! Whilst editing, I came across an article using Image:2pennyreverse.JPG, which you uploaded. You've provided a licence, but unfortunately Wikipedia also requires that all images used in articles have source information, in order that the license can be verified. If you're still around, could you edit the image to include where you found the image, or if you created it yourself, a statement to that effect? If a source is not provided, the image may well be removed from Wikipedia without further notice. GeeJo (t)(c) • 20:07, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] British TOCs

Yes, Duncharris decided that it was all over and removed the Irish ones from the template (while it was still protected). I posted a note to WP:AN/I about this but nobody seems to have commented. I'm seriously considering an RfC. Thryduulf 18:40, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

What a suprise - Duncharris reverted it (using the vandal rollback tool no less!). I like what you tried to do with that edit, but I don't think it was ideal. Try suggesting a combination of that version and the latest version on talk on teh talk page and see what others think. Thryduulf 21:25, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] No personal attacks

You should take very seriously the recent comments by the univolved person (I forget who it was) - you made several personal attacks which are never apropriate, even when pissed off and undermine your case. Read the Wikipedia:No personal attacks policy and note that you can and will be blocked if you continue making them. I also strongly recommend you appologise to Duncharris for the personal attacks, either at Template talk:British TOCs or on his talk page.

Given that the template is very controversial at the moment, all future significant changes (i.e. everything except correcting spellings/updating links/fixing formatting) should first be discussed on the talk page and agreed before being implemented· If everybody did this there would be no edit warring and a civilised discussion should take place. Thryduulf 20:35, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Duncharris

I know nothing about the subject of those articles, but that doesn't look good on Duncharris' behalf. I recommend you start an RfC (I will support and add evidence but I don't have time to start it - I'm literally just back from a weekend away and have three days of online stuff to catch up on). I have a vauge recollection that there was a previous RfC about him so you might want to read that (if I'm not mistaken) and see if the behaviour is similar. I don't know whether this would be a user conduct or abuse of admin powers RfC - if the guidelines on the page don't help ask on the talk page as the people watching that should know. Thryduulf

[edit] Sorry about the accidental reverts

A little time ago you forked template:UKTOCs from template:British TOCs. Apparently, to get around the discussion (of sorts) that is ongoing at template talk:British TOCs. I mass reverted them as unhelpful, but obviously a few got caught up by mistake. Sorry about that. Please remember to get consensus for any edits you make. — Dunc| 17:56, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Yorkshire Regiment

Hi Hammersfan, Spotted your query on the talk page. A short paragraph about HRH Prince Andrew's appointment is on the page, see the second to last paragraph, he is also shown in the info box, at the moment full details are still 'sketchy' as to the depth of involvement he will be taking, he is more interested in Aircraft than the Infantry. As for the Antecedant Regiments C-in-C's being involved? I can confirm that HRH The Queen had appointed His Grace the Duke of Wellington to be the Deputy Colonel-in-Chief of the Yorkshire Regiment and that Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter, the Dukes Current Colonel is to take over from His Grace as President of the Dukes Regimental Association. I will be working at the Yorkshire Regiment's RHQ, in York, tomorrow, so I will enquire about the other two Regiments details though my current info on King Harald V is that he will not be accepting any further engagements due to ill health. Richard Harvey 09:05, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

  • Hammersfan, I can confirm that the current C-in-C's of the Green Howards, King Harald V, or the PWO HRH Duchess of Kent, will cease to have any official connection with the battalions after the merger on the 6th of June. Richard Harvey 00:22, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
    • Hi Hammersfan, I like the idea of the order of precedence on the bottom of the regiments pages. Will you be updating the Order of Precedence article page as the units merge together? eg Yorkshire Regiment on the 6th of June? I was also wondering if it would be a good idea to put small thumbnails of the various regiments TRF's against each unit. I have the Yorkshire Regiment one sat ready to use? Richard Harvey 16:12, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
      • I'm not brilliant at info boxes and templates. Is there provision within the templates for putting in the TRF's automatically, from a central page list, that would save having to keep updating the individual pages as the details change? Richard Harvey 16:25, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
        • Absolutely, but don't expect it to be too soon, such changes take time. Richard Harvey 16:52, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
        • Roger to that! I will follow that idea up elsewhere before proceeding further, as it will save a lot of work. Richard Harvey 16:42, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:1st armoured regiment.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:1st armoured regiment.gif. However, the copyright tag you've used is deprecated or obsolete, and should not be used. I can only supply you with the TRF for the Yorkshire Regiment, which I had some input to. I have uploaded it here:- Yorkshire TRF. I wont have time to find anymore before Thursday as I'm working on updating the Yorkshire Regiment and antecedant regiments webpages on the MOD Website. I will also be away, down in Warminster for the Dukes rebadging parade on Tuesday. Please note the Rose will be worn leaf down, petal up. I have loaded it into the info box already. Richard Harvey 17:52, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Categories

Hi there! Why are you reverting to the original categories for British Army regiments? The category is becoming increasingly unwieldy and needs to be made more accessible and manageable, in my opinion. So that's why I believe creating subordinate categories for cavalry and infantry, etc, is essential to making it more navigable. Happy editing! SoLando (Talk) 13:42, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Ah, I see. Would you have any objection to these two categories being used for all regiments, regardless of their active status? SoLando (Talk) 13:54, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Yes, a category for yeomanry regiments should probably be created in the foreseeable future. Presently, however, there aren't many articles. Where the hell are the creators of stubs? :-D SoLando (Talk) 13:58, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Hi again! Great work with the cats. For the purporses of clarification, do you have any objecttion to Category:British Army cavalry regiments and Category:British Army infantry regiments being used for current and historical regiments? Happy editing! SoLando (Talk) 15:53, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. I'll proceed to update the categories now. I'm hesitant about creating further categories, though, as it could arguably overcategorise the category structure for British Army regiments. Time will tell. Meh. Again, happy editing! SoLando (Talk) 16:05, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Tworonnies0.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Tworonnies0.JPG. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Look mate, I don't honestly care whether the article 'mirrors' those of other regiments or not. The official name -- and I am speaking as a veteran of the unit, not some everday Joe perusing Wikipedia -- is the Third United States Infantry Regiment (TOG). I am changing it, and I will continue to revert it back if it is switched.

[edit] Proposing a merger of Parachute Regiment (India) to Para Commandos

Hi, I'm proposing a merger of merger of Parachute Regiment (India) to Para Commandos since they seem to be on the same topic and the same unit. The latter is better structured and more in detail of the unit's activity, but could also do with the stuff in the page you created.Ranam 15:06, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks Hammersfan

  • Great work on the Land Command page. Just one small note, about 104 Log Spt Bde. Your editing actually managed to delete any reference to it, instead of moving it somewhere. Please don't delete any info already on the page - I believe that's against the guidelines.

Anyhow that again Buckshot06 09:07, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Another well done - good work on finding the subordinate commands of UK Spt Comd Germany, which you've put up in the last day or so. Do you have any info on 145 Brigade, especially why it was selected as the regional bde for the south east? That's the last brigade page to do.

Cheers and thanks again Buckshot06 05:36, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

  • Disagree on your last JHC edit. Every other 2-star command has had its individual parts listed, and the Commando Helicopter Force certainly seems to act as a body. I think you should reconsider and list all 'brigade'-level components.

[edit] Non-FIFA teams

I created the Non-FIFA page and template as an overarching way of keeping non-FIFA teams together. [edit] WSMR at stations

Do you think this should be placed right yet? RFBailey removed my implementation a month earlier. Simply south 16:10, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

I swear i put "not in operation yet" las time, or do you think that means that its up and running but not going ahead on its route, if you know what i mean? Simply south 16:15, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

The reason that I removed Simply south's earlier implementation was that it seemed a little too soon, as WSMR's plans have not been finalised or approved yet, unlike Grand Central's. (I explained this at the time here.) As the plans are likely to be subject to alteration, including the current version is a bit speculative. --RFBailey 23:39, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:THOMAS, The Railway Series and Stations

Dear Hammersfan,

May I point you in the direction of WikiProject Thomas: a project aimed at sorting all of the articles related to Thomas the Tank Engine, the books and the TV series.

One of the aims of this project was to reduce the number of short articles related to Thomas, and this included all of the fictional locations - joining all except the main towns into Fictional locations in The Railway Series. The other reason for this was to separate the differences between The Railway Series and Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends.

While the work you have done, recreating these pages with the novel fictional line linking box seems like a good idea, it has gone against some of the aims of WP:THOMAS. We have been looking at your work and have thought that perhaps, if the reason for your edits was for the insertion of your box - it could perhaps be added to the relevant Fictional locations in The Railway Series page. This is partly due to the differences between the stations in the books and the TV series in which they may be in a different order or the stations may be different altogether.

Take a look at WP:THOMAS and please consider joining us to improve Thomas on Wikipedia.

Best wishes,

Mdcollins1984 09:27, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Dear Hammersfan
Your current editing on 'Fictional Locations' is undoing a great deal of effort applied by various members of WP:THOMAS over the past few months. So please stop and consider the following before you continue.
One of the prime aims of WP:THOMAS is to reduce the vast number of individual pages associated with The Railway Series and Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. This has been achieved through the combining of individual character pages into group pages. It is an on-going project, although it was largely complete for the various aspects of The Railway Series books.
I support your idea of adding the "Fictional Railways" box for the stations on Sodor. However, I do not agree with the way it is being done. There is already a clearly defined structure to the coverage of 'Fictional Locations': all stations are described in Fictional locations in The Railway Series, with a cross-link provided to the equivalent TV Series entry, where appropriate. Only a few 'significant' places (Ffarquhar for example) would retain individual pages, as they could be covered in more depth -- but even this was under review. The 'original' pages, such as Dryaw and Gordon's Hill, would never amount to much more than a paragraph of meaningful text, and they had been retained as disambiguation pages (if the location features in both book and TV series), or just redirects.
You are obviously putting a lot of time and effort into this restructuring, and we (WP:THOMAS) would like to capitalise on that. If you would like to add 'Fictional Railways' boxes, please add them (only) to the entries in Fictional locations in The Railway Series (after the text). They are not appropriate on the individual location pages, as the locations (and hence the boxes) can differ between TV Series and books. It would be confusing to users to see TWO boxes, so they will need to be removed.
As a suggestion, could you please use the line colouring shown on the 'Harry Beck Map' on Sodor (fictional island). It's not essential, but there is a logic to the colours chosen and would be more harmonious.
Please do not consider this request as a threat. I am sure that you are applying these changes 'in good faith'. However, as your changes are directly opposed to one of the basic tenets of WP:THOMAS you may well find that some of the project's founders take a less charitable view to your efforts, and you may find the whole lot reverted (it wouldn't take very long), considering your efforts as 'vandalism'.
Finally, you are obviously a 'Thomas fan', so please consider joining us at WP:THOMAS. There is much work still to be done, and we are a friendly bunch, really...

[edit] London Overground

You misunderstand. GNER is not a franchise, it is a company. It operates the InterCity East Coast franchise. Similarly Island Line and C2C are companies, running the Isle of Wight and London, Tilbury & Southend franchises respectively. London Overground is the name of a franchise and is not an operting company. The TOC infobox does not belong, and additionally serves no purpose as it's already covered by the TfL infobox. --Dtcdthingy 23:56, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Command structure

Hmm, I would have thought that labeling this field as "Part of" would have been sufficient; it's meant to list the larger formation the unit is part of, after all. Is there somethng obvious I'm missing? Kirill Lokshin 13:36, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

Agreed; I note you also reverted it without edit summary nor apparent comment. Suggest providing the name of the larger formation of which a unit is a part does not readily indicate a command structure. Please let us know of anything substantive we may've missed. Thanks, David Kernow (talk) 21:47, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
I've reverted the template back to using the "part of" label for the field, as I can't see any reason why it would not be suitable, and you haven't really offered any explanation either. Kirill Lokshin 03:53, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Zaraphillips.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:Zaraphillips.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Sherool (talk) 12:32, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
