Ironical is a quarterly issue of brief dips into the unknown and mundane. Each issue pulls together around a theme or film coming soon in New Zealand. It contains similar sections throughout progressive issues such as film/video and music reviews, actor bios, art, and comics. Plus regular comics from ''Toothpaste for Dinner' and 'threadbared'.
[edit] Inception
The usage of the phrase 'Ironical' was sourced by Marshall from the 1994 film 'Waiting for Guffman' in which one of the characters uses the term Ironical out of context. It quickly became a fad term thrown around amongst the Marshall and his friends. It wasn't until a brief visit to Wellington that Ironical made any progress. Whilst sitting outside of Parliament in the summer of 2004, Dean Billman had been drawing a picture of Marshall, during this doodling, the New Zealand Prime Minister, Helen Clark walked past the two. Because of this Dino signed the picture "Ironical - we weren't waiting for her, but she came". The full name of the zine is - 'Ironical, we weren't waiting for her but she came'.
