Josie Packard

Josie Packard is a fictional character on the 1990-1991 primetime ABC series Twin Peaks, played by Joan Chen. She is from Hong Kong, and is ethnic Chinese.
A Chinese native, Josie owned the Packard Mill, which she received after her husband, Andrew's death in a boating accident.
Her English is quite good, although she had problems with idioms and turns of phrase. She was taking English lessons from Laura Palmer, right up until the day of Laura's death.
After her husband's death, Josie started dating the town Sheriff Harry S. Truman. At first, seeming innocent and naive, Josie soon revealed another side.
Andrew's sister Catherine Packard Martell hated Josie with a passion, sure that she was responsible for Andrew's demise. Josie had in fact met Andrew under the employ of the sinister Thomas Eckhardt. She was employed to help Hank Jennings kill Andrew. After his death, she simply took over the mill.
Josie was good friends with Pete Martell, Catherine's husband. He was one of the few to see her fragile side and he strove to protect her the entire time he knew her.
Aware that Catherine and Benjamin Horne were plotting to take back the Packard Mill, Josie played the two off against each other, but in the end she was the one who lost the most. Worried about what Agent Cooper would find out, she shot him in the first season finale.
In the show's second season, Josie was horrified when both of the men in her life returned. Andrew had not been killed in the boat accident, and now he returned to live with Catherine. The two of them treated Josie as a maid.
Eckhardt then arrived in Twin Peaks and ordered Josie to come see him. She knew she was going to her death, and took a gun with her. Cooper found out, too late, unable to prevent Josie from killing Eckhardt in the Great Northern Hotel.
However, Josie died moments after, mysteriously. BOB made an appearance at the moment of her death, and at the autopsy, her body had a dramatic loss in weight. Deputy Hawk suspected her soul was no longer in the body.
Indeed, it appeared that - like the Log Lady's husband - Josie's soul was trapped in a wooden knob of a chest of drawers.
Due to the show's cancellation, any resolution to Josie's fate was never known. However, she was mentioned once more when Pete said - at the hotel - "Josie, I see your face." This claim has two meanings amongst fans. Some think he was merely composing a poem, as Pete often did, to her. Others believe he saw her in the wood of the hotel.
