Kastelruth (German) or Castelrotto (Italian) is a comune (municipality) in South Tyrol in the Italian region Trentino-South Tyrol, located about 70 km northeast of Trento and about 20 km northeast of Bolzano. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 6,166 and an area of 117.8 km2.[1]
The municipality of Kastelruth contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Bulla (Bula), Roncadizza (Roncadic), Siusi, Alpe di Siusi, San Michele, Snat'Osvaldo, San Valentino, San Vigilio, Tagusa, Tisana, and Oltretorrente (Sureghes).
Kastelruth borders the following municipalities: Barbian, Campitello di Fassa, Völs am Schlern, Lajen, Urtijëi, Waidbruck, Ritten, Santa Cristina Valgardena, and Tiers.
