Kaua'i Community Radio

Kaua'i Community Radio (KKCR) is a community radio station in Hanalei, on the Island of Kaua'i in Hawaii.
The idea for KKCR originated after Hurricane Iniki devastated the Island on September 11, 1992. Janet Friend, along with Roy Richardson, Richard Fernandez, and a number of other Island residents decided to start a north shore radio station that could serve Island residents, and was to be built to withstand extreme weather conditions and provide emergency information to isolated residents.
