Khallikote Autonomous College
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although Khallikote Autonomous College achieved intermediate college status in 1878, its origins as a high school began in 1856. Situated in Ganjam district in the city of Berhampur in the state of Orissa in India, it stands today as an active intermediate college. Unfortunately in recent years it has become a platform for all sorts of anti social activite's. It has also become a platform for entering local politics. The quality and standard of education has deteriorated considerably. And immediately after it got the status of an autonomous college, it conducted its own examinations independent of the Berhampur University. It thus became a paradise for some lumpen teachers, who indulge in running private coaching classes and neglect their teaching in the classes. Students, who are reluctant to visiit such private tutorials are harassed in more than one way. The recent example of the Department of Political Science is a blunder in the academic world. Two of the Head of the Departments, Dr. Prabhu Prasad Panigrahi (now retd) and Dr. Lakshmi Kanta Patnaik (popular among the students as LK) have brought the image of not only the department but the college to an all-time low. And frustratingly enough, due to the powerful and influential lobby behind him, LK is now the Principal (Honorable?) of this prestigious(!) institution. May God help them.
