King Kong Lives is the 1986 sequel to the blockbuster hit of 1976, King Kong. The film is directed by John Guillerman and starred Linda Hamilton. The screenplay is written by Ronald Shusett and Steven Pressfield. The original music score is composed by John Scott.

[edit] Plot summary
King Kong, after being shot down from the World Trade Center, is kept alive in a coma for about 10 years. When a giant female gorilla dubbed Lady Kong is found in Borneo, a blood transfusion is arranged from the female and an artificial heart is installed in Kong. With a functioning heart, Kong escapes from the facility and seeks to procreate with Lady Kong still held in captivity. He frees her and the film climaxes with her giving birth to a Baby Kong as King Kong dies defending them from the United States Military. The film closes with the female having been returned to Borneo with her baby. She is shown to see her late mate in their child.

Two official video game based on the movie were developed and released only in Japan by Konami and titled King Kong 2: Ikari no Megaton Punch for the Famicom, and King Kong 2 for the MSX. The Famicom game totally discarded the human aspect of the story and players played as King Kong who has to travel around the globe fighting giant robots and certain military forces in order to save the female Kong. The game was designed as an action adventure game with some science fiction concepts. The MSX version, on the other hand, play from the perspective of Mitchell. This version is an action/adventure game in the veins of the Legend of Zelda series.

- Was marketed and released in Japan under the title "King Kong 2".
- At one point, the film makers considered an early scene with Kong's body being removed from the World Trade Center on a flatbed truck. Another early idea was to have Dwan return and try to reconnect with Kong who promptly eats her. Both ideas were ultimately rejected.
- It is generally considered by fans and critics alike to be the worst official Kong film ever made.
