Lancaster High School is a high school in Lancaster, New York, United States of America. It is operated by the Lancaster Central School District. It is the largest high school in Erie County, New York. Its mascot is the Redskin. Lancaster High School offers many rigorous courses, including several AP and Honors classes plus three career themed academies. The Academy of Finance[www.naf.org], Project Lead the Way and the Health/Careers Academy. The school has over 2100 students. In 2005, the school graduated 455 students.
In August, 2006, the school announced it would have a third assistant principal for the 2006-2007 school year, Mr. Cornell, grade 11, in addition to current assistant principals Mr. Bender, grade 12, and Mr. Ponvert, grades 9 and 10.
Lancaster is also has a large number of clubs including SADD, the Ski Club, Block L (Varsity Club), the Performing Arts Society, the Cayugan, DECA, and the Science Olympiad. In 2006 the Science Olympiad Club placed 5th in regional competition. In 2005 the PAS was the first in Western New York to perform Beauty and the Beast. The 2006 musical was Brigadoon, while this year's is currently unannounced. The school also supports a team that participates in the MasterMinds academic competition within New York state. The Marching band has also been successful in recent years, including a sweep of all categories in the Gator Bowl competition in January 2006. Activities sponsored by Block L, specifically Students Mixing Athletics and Reading Together (SMART), have appeared in the publication Leadership for Student Activities.
The School also has many prominent sports teams, including Track and Field, Wrestling, and Woman's Volleyball. The football team's traditional rival is the Depew Wildcats.
