Maryland Route 591
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Maryland Route 591 is a stretch of road in Cecil County, Maryland running alongside U.S. Route 1 for about a mile.
[edit] Route description
Maryland 591 is also called Porters Bridge Road for its entire length. It was the original route of US Route 1 until 1933, crossing Octoraro Creek over Porters Bridge, a metal Pratt through truss bridge. The bridge was closed after a storm damaged the road leading to the eastern side of the bridge in January 1978. As a result, the two ends of Maryland 591 are divided by the creek. The eastern portion has an intersection with Colora Road, which leads east and south.
