Matthew Newton

Matthew Newton (born 11 May 1977) is an Australian stage and screen actor. Born in Melbourne, he is the son of Australian television personalities, Bert and Patti Newton, and brother to Lauren Newton.

Matthew went to Xavier College in Melbourne, Australia. He excelled in the performing arts but underperformed in other areas, particularly subjects involving physical activity. Graduated from NIDA in 1998 with a degree of Performing Arts (Acting).

Matthew has performed in Australia and abroad on stage, in TV and movies, including co-starring with Pia Miranda in the film adaptation of the popular teen novel, Looking For Alibrandi. Probably his most recognisable international role was in the American science fiction show Farscape as the character Jothee.
In 2002 Matthew won a Logie for his role in the television series Changi. He has also appeared in the first and second seasons of television show Thank God You're Here.
Is a rumoured candidate to play the role of Quinlan Vos, in the upcoming Star Wars television series.
In 2006, Newton is starring in a new TV series for TV1 called "Stupid Stupid Man" set in the office of a fictional men's magazine called COQ where he plays a character called "Nick" who is the Features writer for the magazine. The show was launched on Tuesday 14 November 2006 at 9:30pm AEST with 2 episodes back-to-back.
