McKellar features the McKellar Oval in the centre, containing cricket practice nets and has panoramic prospect from Mount Ainslie to Black Mountain and Majura. There is also the McKellar Pre-School, shopping centre (with a physiotherapist, Chinese takeaway, hair salon and chiropractor), and a small football stadium and club in the north east "North Belconnen Soccer Club".
McKellar is serviced by the ACTION bus network on the main street, Dumas Street and William Webb Drive. The buses travel every 40-45 minutes during the day to and from Belconnen.
