Mukkuru (ムックル?) are one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. Mukkuru are famous for being one of the Pokémon revealed before the Japanese release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The purpose of Mukkuru in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]
Mukkuru's name is a portmanteau of the words mukudori (椋鳥?), gray starling, and kurukuru (クルクル?), an onomatopoeic word describing a bird's caw.

[edit] Characteristics
Mukkuru resembles a starling, hence the "Gray Starling" being its classified species. (The White Cheeked Starling, Sturnus cinerascens, is also known as Gray Starling, but this is less common.) It resembles a chick, and evolves into a hawk.
Limited information other than Mukkuru being a Normal-type and Flying-type Pokémon has been released. Mukkuru is said to be 0.3 metres, or 11.811 in. in height, and is said to weigh 2.0 kilograms, or 4.4 lbs. In addition to this, it is #010 in the Sinnoh Pokédex.
[edit] In the video games
Mukkuru will be one of many new Pokémon to make its first appearance upon the release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl for the Nintendo DS. It is the second of the confirmed Sinnoh Pokémon to have an official Sinnoh Pokédex number (Buoysel was confirmed to be #056), as well as the first to have a Pokédex description.
Mukkuru can learn Endeavor, Brave Bird (Flying-type equivalent to Double Edge), Take Down, Aerial Ace, Wing Attack and many more Normal and Flying-type moves. In a recent trailer for the Diamond and Pearl games, Mukkuru appeared in-battle and was shown as "animated" at the battle's start in a style similar to that which was introduced in Pokémon Crystal[3] - whether this opens up the way for other Pokémon to be animated is as of yet unsure.
Mukkuru will also be available for capture at the start of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, much like Pidgey, Hoothoot or Taillow in previous generations.
Mukkuru is a typical, early catchable Pokémon if judged by its stats. It hase base totals of 55 in Attack and 60 in Speed, which makes those its two best stats.
Mukkuru evolves into Mukkubird at Level 14.
Mukkuru can be caught in Routes 201, 202, 204, 209 & 212 North, and Trust Lake.
Female Mukkuru have smaller forehead marks then males.
[edit] In the anime (Pokémon)
Both Ash and Shinji, will catch a Mukkuru. Unlike Shinji, Ash will keep his after catching it. Shinji catches a few of them, but releases them all.
