Myotismon (known as Vamdemon in Japan) is a fictional character from the Digimon franchise, the third major villain in the first season of the Digimon animated series. He is dressed elegantly as a gentleman and is one of the main villains of the whole Digimon series. His look and mannerisms are styled after vampires. He was voiced by Ryuuzaburo Otomo (Japan, Digimon Adventure (AKA Season 1) ), Toshiyuki Morikawa (Japan, Digimon Adventure 02 (AKA Season 2)) and Richard Epcar (English, Both Seasons). Myotismon digivolved into VenomMyotismon (VenomVamdemon in Japan), the first Mega-level in the series.

[edit] Abilities
Myotismon is a vampire who feeds on the fresh or deleted data of his victims (though he developed a taste for young women's blood during his stay in Odaiba). His victims were thought to have been afflicted with sudden anemia. His power depends on the absence of the sun, although he seems to be able to overcome this by creating a fog around wherever he goes.
[edit] Attacks
*English Attacks go first followed by Japanese attacks.
- Grisly Wing (Night Raid): Myotismon summons his Alpha Bats (born from his own data) to attack or gather data from his victims.
- Crimson Lightning (Bloody Stream/Bloody Whip): Creates a red energy stream that he can throw out like a whip.
- Nightmare Claw (Death Scream): A paralysis attack.
[edit] Appearances
[edit] Digimon Adventure
Before he encountered the DigiDestined, Myotismon was the one responsible for conditioning Gatomon into a loyal minion through harsh methods when she was Salamon. When it came to the DigiDestined, he used his minion DemiDevimon to try to keep the group separated. He did this because he had learned of the 8th Child, the final member of the DigiDestined, and thus decided to enter the Real World (taking Gatomon, DemiDevimon, his Bakemon henchmen, and Digimon like Mammothmon, Gesomon, Raremon, SkullMeramon, Pumpkinmon, Gotsumon, Wizardmon, Phantomon, DarkTyrannomon, a bunch of Gizamon, MegaSeadramon, Tuskmon and Snimon with him for assistance) to find and kill him. But the DigiDestined followed him and for the next two days (August 1 and August 2), the search for the 8th Child went on. It was not until August 3 that Myotismon learned of Gatomon's relation to the 8th Child and used his power to isolate Odaiba from the rest of Tokyo. Because of this, the DigiDestined were spread out and found it hard to mount an effective strategy against him.
After finding the eighth child, Kari, who was actually the little sister of one of the digidestined, Myotismon easily overpowered the combined forces of MetalGreymon, WereGarurumon, MegaKabuterimon, Lillymon, Garudamon, and Zudomon. Angemon on the other hand managed to cause some damage, but when Myotismon killed Wizardmon, Kari's Crest glowed and Gatomon Digivolved to Angewomon, who destroyed Myotismon with the combined power from the other Digimon's projectile attacks. However, he was not gone entirely.
By reasborbing his Alpha Bats (which had been consuming every energy source they could find), Myotismon resurrected as VenomMyotismon. By fullfiling the prophecy that fortold Myotismon's resurrection, the DigiDestined managed to evoke the birth of WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon. Although he was killed by WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon, his "spirit" endured and took advantage of Yukio Oikawa by entering the man's body and beginning the trouble that would plague the next season three years later.
[edit] Digimon 02
Myotismon was secretly behind most of the events in 02. After possessing Oikawa, he influenced his host to create Mummymon and Arukenimon which led to Ken becoming the Digimon Emperor and the early events of the series.
At the height of his revenge scheme on December 31, 2002, Myotismon ditched his host and used the power of the Dark Spores to assume the form of the mega digimon beyond that of VenomMyotismon in his evolution line, MaloMyotismon.
[edit] Digimon Frontier
A silhouette of a Myotismon was seen outside the eating tent at the Autumn Leaf Fair.
[edit] V-Tamer
Fighting for Daemon, Lord Myotismon is just as cunning, ruthless and psychotic as his anime counterpart. He guarded the Tag of Illusions. Using his Nightmare Wave, he caused Zeromaru to think Taichi Yagami might betray him but Taichi refused to accept it. This greatly angered Myotismon, which eventually led to his downfall. He had one underling, a Bakemon that posed as a Patamon and also had control over the Candlemon.
[edit] Digimon World Digital Card Battle
Myotismon is the Dark Seven Card holder and he lives in the Dark Mansion. He suspects that the Bug Card is in the hand of Burakimon and is in love with Rosemon. Myotismon belongs to the Dark group and has 1000HP, Circle attack 650, Triangle attack 400 and special Cross attack 300 of absorption.
[edit] Digimon World
A benevolent Myotismon was the master of Grey Lord's mansion, where he conducted studies, and was first found starving to death in the basement. After the hero retrieves food for him, he explained what was happening to his servants. Later on he was kidnapped by SkullGreymon and taken to the underground lab where the hero had to fight Skullgreymon. After that, Myotismon and SkullGreymon both join the Battle Arena.
[edit] Digimon World 2
Myotismon appears as a playable Digimon being able to Digivolve from Devimon. In the opening CGI movie, Myotismon battles Veedramon one-on-one.
[edit] Digimon World DS
Myotismon evolves from Devimon, and can evolve further into VenomMyotismon or MaloMyotismon depending on its stats (and, for MaloMyotismon, you must have owned a DemiDevimon before).
[edit] Trivia
- Given the significance of the storylines he has headed, Myotismon is typically portrayed by many as the ultimate archnemesis of the television series.
- Myotismon's servants are sometimes called Nightmare Soldiers. In the Digimon trading card game, 'Nightmare Soldiers' is a Digimon group-type (or 'family') that hundreds of different Digimon belong to, including some fan favorites such as Renamon. The term doesn't necessarily mean that Digimon belonging to the Nightmare Soldiers family are evil, but are simply more attuned to the powers of darkness.
- Dracu-Myotismon was a Castlevania villain.
- Myotismon is Classic Dracula or Vampire.
