New International Version Inclusive Language Edition (NIVI)

The New International Version Inclusive Language Edition (NIVI) is a new edition of the Bible. It was first published by Hodder and Stoughton in London in 1996. Rejected by many evangelical Christians for its "gender neutral" language such as "brothers and sisters" and "human" in place of traditionally masculine word translations, the NIVI was not released in the United States. Instead, a few years later the similar Today's New International Version (TNIV) was published by Zondervan in partnership is IBS for the American Christian audience (the New Testament in 2002, the Old and New Testaments in 2005), which also uses inclusive language though doesn't draw as much attention to that aspect of itself through its name.
