New Zealand Human Rights Commission

The New Zealand Human Rights Commission (Te Kāhui Tika Tangata in Maori) is a New Zealand Government agency that applies and enforces the New Zealand Human Rights Act, a New Zealand statute outlawing particular kinds of discrimination.
The commission was formed in 1977, and currently functions under the New Zealand Human Rights Act (1993). It is an independent agency funded by the Ministry of Justice. It incorporated the Office of the Race Relations Conciliator in 2001.
The commission works to educate New Zealanders, publish information, investigate human rights abuses, and resolve disputes over rights and discrimination related issues.
