I line in NYC and work in marketing. As you can guess from my username I am greatly interested in Greek mythology. Niobe was a proud, vain woman who dared to compare her 14 golden children, 7 sons and 7 daughters, to the mere 2 children of Leto (Apollo and Artemis, who happened to be powerful gods), who wreaked their vengeance by slaying all of her children with poisoned arrows before her eyes (some sources indicate that 1 son and 1 daughter were spared, but that's debatable). Niobe's husband died of grief, and Niobe, whose tears were endless, was turned into a waterfall.
