Nixa is a city in Christian County, Missouri, United States. The population was 12,124 at the 2000 census.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 12,124 people, 4,654 households, and 3,448 families residing in the city. The population density was 759.9/km² (1,969.1/mi²). There were 4,962 housing units at an average density of 311.0/km² (805.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.43% White, 0.46% African American, 0.36% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.30% from other races, and 1.01% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.26% of the population.
There were 4,654 households out of which 40.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.3% were married couples living together, 12.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.9% were non-families. 20.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 2.95.
In the city the population was spread out with 28.4% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 34.5% from 25 to 44, 17.2% from 45 to 64, and 11.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 89.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.9 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $37,655, and the median income for a family was $44,556. Males had a median income of $33,636 versus $21,737 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,774. About 8.1% of families and 9.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.3% of those under age 18 and 6.7% of those age 65 or over.

All of the schools in Nixa are public. Currently, the Nixa R-2 School District operates four elementary schools for students in kindergarten through fourth grade, two elementary schools for students in the fifth and sixth grades, one junior high school, and one high school. The district is widely considered one of the best in Missouri and has received the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Distinction in Performance award.

In the 2004 film The Bourne Supremacy it is revealed at the very end of the movie that Jason Bourne's real name is David Webb and that he was born April 15, 1971 in Nixa, Missouri.
