Nyika Plateau

The Nyika Plateau lies in northern Malawi and north eastern Zambia. It is protected by Malawi's Nyika National Park and Zambia's Nyika Plateau National Park. It lies at an average of 2000m above sea level, rising to 2605m at Nganda Peak. It is known for its wildlife, including Buchell's zebra, many birds and endemic butterflies, chameleons, frogs and toads, and also for its orchids. The main settlement on the plateau is Chilinda.
Nyika is also a name growing in popularity.
