[edit] Character history
Not much is known except that he is the spawn of Venom, and was created in a facility where Venom was captured called the L.I.F.E. Foundation. Venom went through a procedure where multiple 'offspring' were created from him - thus, Riot is born. He appears as either dark gray or brown (this is attributed to an error by the colorists). His host is called Trevor. He was defeated by Venom and Spider-Man in Lethal Protector. Like the other LF symbiotes, Trevor was a volunteer for the Life Foundation Organization, an organization that was preparing for the M.A.D. fallout of the Cold War and provide a comfortable life for their wealthy clients after the impending nuclear holocaust. The Life Foundation was experimenting with the Venom symbiote in the hopes of making supercops to watch over their imagined fallout shelter utopia. Trevor was picked from the organization's security force made up of cops, soldiers, and mercenaries. He is extremely aggressive and evil (worse than his "siblings" (with the only exception being Carnage)). Like the other LF symbiotes, Riot was having trouble controlling his symbiote. Thus, Riot and the other LF symbiotes broke Eddie Brock out of prison and kidnapped him in a last ditch effort to communicate with his "other". After Trevor was killed by Scream what was left of the symbiote combined with all his sisters and brothers (except Carnage and Scream) to form the new antihero called Hybrid. His status is uncertain.
[edit] Powers and abilities
Riot possesses all the powers the original Venom has, including suit generated webbing, shape-shifting, superstrength, can expel a potent acid from his suit, and the inability to be detected by Spider-Man's "spider-sense". Unlike his fellow symbiotes, Riot doesn't like to use his tendrils to form blades or spikes, but prefers to create bludgeoning weapons like hammers and maces.
[edit] Trivia
- Riot was originally the name of an action-figure (described as having many limbs and being as big as a house) but the name stuck in the symbiote mythos for the name of Trevor's symbiote.
[edit] Toy
Riot has his own action figure.
[edit] Appearances in other media
He appeared in the Genesis and SNES video game Spider-Man & Venom: Separation Anxiety.
