San Isidro is a partido of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina found in the north of Greater Buenos Aires. Its capital is the city of San Isidro. It is 20 km from the city of Buenos Aires.
The founder of San Isidro city was Domingo de Acassuso, who built a cathedral in 1706 dedicated to San Isidro Labrador, having seen him in a dream. Other towns in the municipality are Acassuso, Beccar, Boulogne Sur Mer, Martínez, and Villa Adelina.
The area of the partido is 51,44 km². In 2001 there were 293,000 inhabitants, representing 0.8% of the population of Argentina. San Isidro borders on the partidos of Tigre, Vicente López, San Martín and San Fernando. As of November 2006, the mayor was Gustavo Posse.
Famed all over Argentina for its beautiful houses and affluent neighbourhoods, the partido has also traditionally been home to Buenos Aires's high and middle high classes. Nevertheless, there are numerous working-class quarters, and even large shanty towns (villas miseria) like Villa La Cava in Beccar, interspersed mostly west of the Avenida Centenario/Santa Fe thoroughfare, especially in the Beccar and Boulogne districts.
