The Swan IC Football Club is located 20 kilometers out of Perth in the beautiful Swan Valley. In 1984 the Swan Italian Club, headed by John Steffanelli, approached Frank Arvino and Tony Scali through Tony Bottega to bring semi professional soccer to the Swan Valley. Although the valley had strong connections to Soccer in days gone by through the Swan Valley Sporting Club and Swan Athletic soccer had hit a wall and was going nowhere even though there were increasing numbers of children playing. Frank and Tony were shown the club premises and although there was no soccer pitch at the club at the time the potential was there as the Swan Italian Club owned its own premises freehold. With promise of assistance from the Steffanelli family (who are still the major sponsors of the club) Frank and Tony then sought to find interested people to start the club. A committee was then formed in late 1984 comprising of Frank Arvino ( President ), Chris Godfrey ( Secretary ), Neil Aloi ( Treasurer ), Tony Scali, John Muriale and Tony Bottega. In 1985 the committee was joined by Joe Marino, Cono Salvo, Sam Verdiglioni and Nick Coniglio. The initial name given to the club was Swan IC United Soccer Club. The club played its first season at Jack Mann Oval in the amateur ranks coached by Andy Clues. The team ended 3rd and applied and were accepted into the 4th division of the Federation in 1986. In 1987 the club moved from Jack Mann Oval to the Swan Italian Club for its first season at the club. The club have become one of the elite Premier League clubs in Western Australia and won their first major trophy in 2003 winning the Association Cup with a 2 -1 victory against Perth S.C, and went back to back winning it again in 2004 with a 3 -1 victory against Fremantle City. The side was coached by former Perth Glory coach and WA hall of fame member Gary Marocchi, who brought professionalism to the club which all involved hope continues. The club is currently playing in the Western Australia State League in the premier division.
