Tenali Ramakrishna

Tenali Ramakrishna, popularly known as Tenali Rama, was a court-poet and court Jester of Krishnadeva Raya of the Vijayanagara empire. He was known for wit and prodigious poetry written in the Telugu language. Ramakrishna was also a great scholar of several languages that included Kannada, Telugu, Marathi, Hindi, and Tamil.
Ramakrishna was called a vikata kavi and he was one of the Ashtadiggajas of the Vijayanagara court. His notability spread beyond Vijayanagar (present-day Karnataka), to areas that reach as far as Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh today.
