The Regents were a doo-wop vocal group from New York City in the late 1950s and early 1960s. They are best known for writing and recording the hit Barbara Ann in 1961, which reached #13 on the US charts.
It also gained notability when it was covered by the Beach Boys, on their album Beach Boys' Party! in 1965. The single reached #2 on the US charts.
Another band by the name "The Regents" recorded the song "7Teen" in 1979.
