University of Virginia College of Arts & Sciences

The University of Virginia College of Arts & Sciences is the largest of the University of Virginia's schools. It consists of both a graduate and an undergraduate program. It is the liberal arts portion of the University. The current dean is Edward Ayers. The College (as it is called at UVA) has over 50 departments, with majors ranging from Physics and Math to Media Studies and Politics.
Students in the College can often be seen wearing shirts that say "College" on them, a reference to John Belushi's character in Animal House. Though this is common at many institutions of higher learning, it is especially popular at the College because of that particular nickname. This has, in turn, inspired a mild backlash against these shirts, especially among the students of the Engineering School, who have a common t-shirt of their own, dedicated largely to mocking the College. It is unknown whether this will erupt into open warfare, or even who would emerge victorious from such a conflagration.
