Washingtonville is a village in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 5,851 at the 2000 census. The village is named in honor of George Washington. It has the 496 and 497 telephone exchange within the 845 area code and the ZIP code 10992.

It was incorporated in 1895 and is within the Town of Blooming Grove.

The first settlement of the town took place in 1731. In 1809 John Jacques, a shoemaker, set up his store with eight others in what is now Washingtonville, New York. The nine stores were then called Little New York. Jacques later established the Brotherhood Winery, the United States' oldest operating winery, in the year 1839.

Washingtonville is located at 41°25′51″N, 74°9′19″W (41.430960, -74.155163)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 6.6 km² (2.5 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 5,851 people, 1,984 households, and 1,497 families residing in the village. The population density was 889.4/km² (2,300.2/mi²). There were 2,044 housing units at an average density of 310.7/km² (803.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 88.12% White, 1.57% African American, 0.22% Native American, 1.42% Asian, 3.03% from other races, and 1.64% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 21.28% of the population.

There were 1,984 households out of which 47.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.6% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.5% were non-families. 21.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.94 and the average family size was 3.46.

In the village the population was spread out with 32.2% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 31.6% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 9.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 95.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.8 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $82,568, and the median income for a family was $99,145. Males had a median income of $77,552 versus $59,958 for females. The per capita income for the village was $74,036. About 1.0% of families and 1.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 1.9% of those under age 18 and 2.0% of those age 65 or over.
