[edit] Structure
[Discuss the format for each article based on the WikiProject. Include various categories applicable to the topic.]
[edit] Goals
- Unify the presentations of the Biblical canon (cf. Apocrypha, Books of the Bible, Septuagint, Old Testament, New Testament).
- Unify presentation of the individual books of the Bible.
- Keep Bible translations pages in order.
As with any Wikipedia project, be aware of other sources and consolidate information in the appropriate places. Collaborate with related projects, wikis, and websites and be respectful of people's differing opinions. See particularly WikiProjects Judaism and Countering systemic bias in religion.
Please discuss any goal changes in the talk page. For reference, there is also an archive of this topic.
[edit] Tasks
- Reorganize by learning from some of the popular projects (e.g. Military history).
- Make better use of transclusion and templates.
- Fill out Structure section with examples/templates of good pages.
- Use commons:Category:Bible for majority of uploaded media.
[edit] Infoboxes
There is now an infobox called Template:Bible translation infobox which is eagerly waiting your comments/discussion/changes. Brusselsshrek 23:19, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Templates
Use the bibleverse template for linking to verses in footnoted references. For example:
"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." (John 3:17, NIV (1))
and in the references section: Note (1): John 3:17
There exist Ketuvim, Torah, and Nevi'im templates in use.
I made some templated to organize some:
- {{sons of Abraham}} produces:
- {{sons of Ishmael}} produces:
Sons of Ishmael in order of birth (Genesis)
Nebaioth | Kedar | Adbeel | Mibsam | Mishma | Dumah | Massa | Hadad | Tema | Jetur | Naphish | Kedemah |
- {{Adam to David}} produces:
Torah/Old Testament's Genealogy from Adam to David
Adam to Shem | Adam | Seth | Enos | Kenan | Mahalalel | Jared | Enoch | Methuselah | Lamech | Noah | Shem
Arpachshad to Jacob | Arpachshad | Shelah | Eber | Peleg | Reu | Serug | Nahor | Terah | Abraham | Isaac | Jacob
Judah to David | Judah | Perez | Hezron | Aram | Amminadab | Nahshon | Salmon | Boaz | Obed | Jesse | David |
- {{Portal:Bible/Featured chapter/Template}} adds the current selected Bible verse from Portal:Bible to your user page:
God concludes the Covenant Code, promises Canaan to the Israelites if they obey, but warns against the paganism of its inhabitants.

It's a bit bright and garish, is there any way to tone the colours down a bit?
I get the feeling that some (but not all) of the templates would be controversial - Islam says that the sons of Abraham happened in a different order to Judaism, for example. Clinkophonist 17:29, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
