Wyndham Worldwide is infamous for treating franchise owners badly. The company, in addition to exorbitant franchise fees and rates, often issues "hidden charges" and conducts fraudlent "audits" with the purpose to raise money. Company managers have reportedly said "lets screw those Indian motel owners for all they're worth. We'll discuss the details over martinis and steaks in Parsippany over a company sponsored 'strategy meeting'."
As a result of Whyndham's unfair treatment and outight thuggery, several Wyndham franchisees are switching over to more decent franchises.
Trivia The name Wyndham was chosen during a drinking game in which Cendant executives brainstormed "fancy-sounding names" by naming places in England.
