A satellite is something that orbits another object in space. It normally means a machine sent up to circle the Earth with different purposes, such as sending TV signals, taking pictures, sending telephone traffic, weather forecasting, space investigation, pollution control, and other things. One of the Earth's natural satellites is the moon. There are other ones such as satellite navigation ones and ones for spying.
