From Wikipedia, a free encyclopedia written in simple English for easy reading.
Yateley is a town in England, located 35 miles south west of London, in North East Hampshire, on the borders with Berkshire and Surrey. Other local towns and villages include Eversley, Finchampstead, Hartley Wintney, Blackwater, Camberley, Sandhurst, Crowthorne, Farnborough and Fleet.
Yately mainly serves as a dormitory town for workers in London, Reading, Guildford, Farnborough and Camberley, but there are some local businesses employing local people.
Public transport in Yateley is limited to a bus that serves Blackwater, Camberley and Aldershot. There is no train station.
There are two secondary schools in the town, Yateley School and Frogmore School, and many infant and primary schools.
Pubs are abundant in the area, but the local entertainment industry is lacking. Pubs include the White Lion, the Royal Oak, the Dog & Partridge, the Cricketers, the Poet's Corner, the Anchor and the Tythings.
The town is famous for being, until recently, the home of the Monster Raving Loony Party, whose chairman Howling Lord Hope was the landlord of the Dog & Partrige pub. The party secretary, a cat named Katmandu, died in a freak car accident.
