Am 16. und 17. Juni 1977 fand in Bonn das 30. deutsch-französische Gipfeltreffen statt.
Hauptgesprächsthemen dieser Konsultationen waren internationale Wirtschafts- und Währungsprobleme, Energiefragen sowie zahlreiche Probleme auf dem Gebiet der Europapolitik. Am 16. Juni unterzeichneten die beiden Außenminister ein Abkommen über die Gleichwertigkeit von Prüfungszeugnissen in der beruflichen Bildung. Am 17. Juni nahmen Bundeskanzler Helmut Schmidt und der französische Staatspräsident Valéry Giscard d'Estaing in Mainz an einer Feier aus Anlaß des 500jährigen Bestehens der Universität Mainz teil.
