Ōei

Ōei (応永) was a Japanese era name after Meitoku and before Shōchō and spanned from 1394 to 1428. Reigning emperors were Go-Komatsu and Shōkō.

Because of plague, on 7th month 5th day, Meitoku 5, the era was changed to Ōei

- Ōei 4, 4th month 16th day (1397) - Construction begun on Kinkaku-ji
- Ōei 6, 10th month 28th day (1399) - Ōei Rebellion begins. Ōuchi Yoshiharu raises an army against Ashikaga Yoshimitsu
- Ōei 8, 5th month, 13th day (1401) - Ashikaga Yoshimitsu sends a diplomatic mission to China, first step in trade between Japan and Ming China
- Ōei 19, 8th month, 29th day (1412) - Emperor Go-Komatsu abdicates to Emperor Shōkō
- Ōei 21, 12th month, 19th day (1414) - Enthronement of Emperor Shōkō
- Ōei 26, 6th month, 26th day (1419) - Oei Invasion. Korea invaded Tsushima Province
