Bandol AOC
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bandol is a wine AOC in the Provence region of France, on the outskirts of Toulon.
The red wines are the most famous; they are very powerful wines with great aging potential, predominantly made from the Mourvèdre grape (50% legal minimum), and are considered to be the finest examples of wines made from this grape. Other permitted grapes for the red wines are Grenache, Cinsaut, and small quantities of Syrah and Carignan. Small quantities of white wines are made, from Clairette, Ugni Blanc, Bourboulenc and Sauvignon Blanc. The majority of the wines are rosés, although neither the whites nor rosés are widely known outside the region. The rosés can be made from any of the red or white grapes.
