Baron Dunsany
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Barony of Dunsany was created by writ of summons in the Peerage of Ireland in 1439. In 1461, the peerage was confirmed by letters patent. The peerage is still extant. The first Baron was the uncle of Christopher Plunkett, 1st Baron Kileen (from whom the Earls of Fingall descended). The title is listed by "Burke's Peerage and Baronetage" as Baron of Dunsany and not Baron Dunsany; "The Complete Peerage" dies not, and in normal parlance Baron Dunsany is referred to as Lord Dunsany. The ancestral seat of this branch of the Plunkett family is Dunsany Castle in County Meath in the Republic of Ireland.
